What My Toddler Eats In A Day || Meal Ideas

I recently had a poll question on my Instagram page on what you guys want to see next on my blog, and most voted on What my toddler eats every day?

So here’s a look at what my toddler eats in a day from breakfast to dinner with snacks included.

My baby girl is 20 months old, and the biggest difference I have noticed between feeding a baby and feeding a toddler is that Feeding A Toddler Can Be STRESSFUL!!(Not at all exaggerating)

Ok, mostly she eats what we usually have. I don’t always make separate food for her. It’s been like this from her 10th month. She was not a big fan of baby food.


She wakes up between 8.00 to 8.30am. The first thing in the morning she’ll have one or two biscuits or milk rusk dipped in my tea.

Around 9.30 am, she’ll have her normal breakfast. We always try to eat as a family. This makes them learn to sit in one place and eat. (Ok! At least for the first 10 mins)

Breakfast options:

2 Hard boiled eggs with a slice of cheese

Idly with sambar with carrots and beans in it.

Dosa with chana dhal or sambar

Idiyappam or appam with strew

She usually has any one of these above.

Snack time :

At around 11.30 am she’ll have a cup of milk with some sliced apples or strawberries.

My baby girl hates milk. If your child is anything like mine, try feeding them with cold milk with a pinch of chocolate powder.

From Aura’s 8th month she started to dislike formula and it was only Breastfeeding from then on. So I had a hard time giving her formula or cows milk when I stopped nursing.

After trying every possible formula brand and bottles, I finally tried cold milk with a pinch of chocolate powder or even boost. And guess what, she LIKED it!!


Around 1.00 to 1.30 pm she’ll have her lunch. It’s usually a bowl of steamed rice with whatever curry we made for the day.

She’ll have chopped vegetables or chicken or small pieces of fish along with her rice.

Nap time : 2.30 to 4.30 pm.

Snack time :

Once she wakes up from her nap she’ll have a biscuit or two with my tea.

After an hour, I give her homemade chicken nuggets or potatoes baked depending on my mood.

Snack Ideas:

Air popped popcorn

Chopped carrots

Cheese slices

Homemade chicken nuggets

Baked potatoes

Dinner :

She usually have her dinner around 8.00 to 8.30 pm.

Chappati with Channa

Dosa with sambar

Rice with steamed vegetables

Noodles or pasta with vegetables or chicken.

She’ll have anyone these above.

Aura is very picky when it comes to food ( just like her dad). Every day I have to come up with a different food option. If I give her apples one day and try to give it the next day too, she’ll don’t like it.

Yeah, she is picky like that!!

So I try to change the vegetables or fruits options everyday. She doesn’t eats whatever I give her. She eats normally but once she feels like she’s done, she will never take another bite.

So it’s not always easy feeding your toddler. After all the running and carrying and screaming and crying ( it’s mostly the mother) finally they finish their food at least half!!

Don’t feel bad if your toddler is a bad eater, it’s the only thing they have control over. So they take advantage of it.

It takes a lot of patience and time to get them eat.
