Losing the Baby Weight

Hey, guys welcome back to another blog post. In this post, I thought I’ll write about How I lost my mom weight? I recently posted my weight loss before and after pic on Instagram and a lot of you guys DMed me how I did it!

Well, it’s honestly a struggle losing the postpartum weight. Some women just lose it weeks after the baby is born but for some, it just takes forever. I’m in that second category.

This is my second pregnancy and I still have that last few pounds to lose but I’m very happy that I have come this far.

This post would be helpful if you want to lose some weight, postpartum or not, this is just about weight loss only. Arkyn will be 1 this month and my goal was to lose the weight before he turned one.

I am the type of person who puts on a lot of weight when pregnant, and just carries BIG! With each pregnancy, I gained at least 15 – 20 kgs. So these last 4 years I have gained and lost weight. This is our last baby (hopefully) so I’m desperate to get back in shape.

So the first 6 months I did not do any massive dieting or anything since I was breastfeeding my son. When he started to take solids, that’s when I started to change my eating habits.

First thing I did, NO RICE. NO SUGAR.

I stopped eating white rice and instead I ate brown rice only. For dinner most days I ate one cup of oatmeal with apple and a glass of milk. Since Oatmeal is rich in fiber, it kept me full throughout the night even when I was breastfeeding my son.

I did a lot of change in my eating habits, I tried to eat clean, I cut down on fast food, soda, and even bread.

Even with all this, I couldn’t lose the weight fast, I mean I did lose a few pounds by cutting rice and bread from my diet but it was not enough. There are so many diet plans on the Internet like paleo and keto, everything was either time consuming to make or it did not work for me.

Finally, I came to know about Intermittent Fasting. It’s an eating pattern where we eat during a certain time and remaining hours we fast.

There are so many fasting windows available for this diet. The one that worked for me was 16:8. Where I fast for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours. Even during my eating window, I did not go crazy on food. I limited and ate healthy and clean. And I would be on a water fast for 16 hours.

Mornings usually are very hectic for me, I have to get my daughter ready for school, prepare lunch and feed my son. So naturally, I forget to eat my breakfast most of the days. This worked for me, so I skipped my breakfast and ate directly from 1 pm till 9 pm in the night.

First thing in the mornings I used to drink hot water instead of tea/coffee. Later on, ill have my regular lunch, my dinner and in between, I have tea and biscuits in the evenings. This worked so well on my body. The first few weeks were the hardest and later my body kinda got used to this habit. It’s been almost 5 months since I have started doing intermittent fasting and have almost reached my goal weight.

Along with this I got used to doing some ab exercises. Just random ones from YouTube. Looking back at my old pictures I’m so grateful that I have started doing this method.

I feel so good. My body feels good. My skin is very clear and looks healthy.
